Howland High School’s Speech and Debate Team has earned significant recognition from the National Speech & Debate Association.
The district’s chapter achieved a total of 100 or more degrees last year, which put the district in the top 20% of schools nationwide. Howland’s Speech and Debate Team also earned a spot in the association’s prestigious 100 Club.
“This milestone is remarkable because it demonstrates outstanding commitment to teaching students essential life skills – including communication, research, listening, writing and organization,” said speech and debate coach Amanda Daquelente.
The National Speech & Debate Association has commended Howland for its leadership of an active speech & debate program, which is led by Amanda Daquelente and Thom Williams.
