Family tragedy turns into teachable moment at Howland Schools

Nearly 16 years ago, Howland teacher Jenifer Studer lost her 14 year-old daughter Kyrsten when she was struck and killed by a drunk driver.

After her death, the Studer family launched the Krysten Elizabeth Studer Foundation.  Since 2012, the foundation has hosted an event in Trumbull County known as Kyrsten’s Kloset, an opportunity to any student to shop for and try on prom dresses, then take one home free of charge after signing a pledge to not drink and drive.

Beginning Thursday, February 28, 2019, Howland’s Paw Pantry with support from Kyrsten’s Kloset will launch “Passionate about Prom”, which will allow Howland students to shop for, try on and take home free prom dresses if they sign a prom promise agreement.

Passionate about Prom will be held during all lunch periods on the following days:

Thursday, February 28

Thursday, March 14

Thursday, March 28

Thursday, April 11
