   About The Band

Band Office Number: 330-856-8200 (ext. 67072)

Under the Direction of Mrs. Nancy Moore and Mr. Greg Rezabek, the "Musical Pride of Howland" is 189 members strong, including 79 brass, 75 woodwinds, 25 percussion and 10 majorettes.
The band recently completed a week of intensive training at Grove City College in Grove City, PA. Linda James is the advisor for our talented majorette line, known as the "Tigerettes". Mr. Tony Ferderber is our percussion advisor. Our band staff included Alison Kemp, Rob Jaques, Allison Mrowka, Lydia France, Ryan Cunnigham, Jill Redmond, and Josh Cokrlic. This year we have added 2 terrific field commanders, Alyson Pierce and Sierra McCorvey.

We enjoyed a terrific marching season last year and continued the tradition of Script Tigers. In January we earned 56 superior ratings at the Ohio Music Education Association's Solo and Ensemble Contest. This past March Howland hosted the OMEA Large Group Adjudicated Event. Our Concert Band and our Symphonic Band received superior ratings at District.

This year we will be performing at the YSU vs. Southern Utah football game on Sat., Oct. 13, 2007 at 4 P.M. We will also perform a pre-game show on the court at one of the Cavs games. In April, we will fly to Florida and perform at Walt Disney World.
Tonight’s show is called “Florida’s Gonna be FANTASMIC!” The downfield is the music from Disney’s night time show at MGM, entitled “Fantasmic,” followed by “Night on Bald Mountain.” We continue on to Walt Disney’s dream of creating a “Land of Make Believe” with music by Chuck Mangione. We feature our Tigerettes in the next number, “Come Fly with Me” by Frank Sinatra. One of our favorite rides at Disney is “Pirates of the Caribbean.” In this number the band will form a 55 foot pirate ship combined with some tricky sticking from the drum line. Alice Cooper’s “Poison” provides the music for the next majorette number as we feature a new twist of the classic fairy tale Snow White. We conclude our show with the music from the “Electric Parade” featured nightly at the Magic Kingdom.
