Teachers have prepared lessons using alternative and/or online instructional models in order to continue your child’s education in the absence of face-to-face delivery methods.

K-4 Curriculum

Printed educational packets will be available for pickup on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 and Thursday, April 9, 2020 between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. at your child’s school building.  If you are unable to pick up the packet between these hours or have any other questions, please contact your child’s school for direction and information at the numbers above.

5-12 Curriculum

Educational materials for students in grades 5-12 are available electronically through the district’s website. Directions/assignments for students are located on each teacher’s webpage or Google Classroom, as is normally shared.

Special Education Curriculum

Howland Schools will comply with accommodations that are expected through students’ IEP or 504 plans. Classroom assignments will be modified to match their needs and abilities and related services will be provided via specially designed activities and followed up with weekly phone conferences.  If a parent/guardian has questions about services available, please contact Michelle Dohar, Supervisor of Special Services. 330-856-8200 ext. 68215

Assistance with Assignments

Over the closure, our teachers will be accessible through electronic communications (email/Google) to students/parents who may have questions about assignments or work.

Teachers will be entering and calculating grades to end the quarter and disseminate report cards accordingly. Although this is a challenging time, and these alternative teaching deliveries will not come with the familiar face-to-face affect and support, our staff have stepped up to show their intent to educate your children with the exact same compassion, commitment and concern.  As we receive further guidance from the Ohio Department of Education and Governor DeWine’s office, we will let you know.

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT

We know COVID-19 has caused people to be fearful, anxious, depressed and lonely.  We want you to know there is help. We encourage anyone who is experiencing those feelings to reach out to a staff member at Howland Schools.

TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION

Students will be utilizing their school assigned Chromebooks for assignments and school work.  If a student’s Chromebook is not working, they are encouraged to follow the procedure at the link below to have it repaired.
