Howland completed an undefeated State Championship season with a 5-0 victory over Tippecanoe in the Division II Boy’s Soccer Final at MAPFRE Stadium.
The title is the first in Tigers program history, ending the #3 Red Devils amazing 47-match winning streak to avenge their only loss of the 2019 season in the State Finals. They would cap-off a 22-0-1 season with 20 total shots to Tipp City’s 9, while keeper Lucas Brill made a pair of saves to keep a clean sheet for #2 Howland.
Gabe Lisi gave the Tigers a 1-0 edge just before the half on a setup from Gabriel Altawil which seemed to fuel Howland into the break with a lead. Kylan Mowatt-Larssen then found the back of the net at the 43:37 mark before back to back Jordan Sperling goals pushed the Tigers lead to 4-0 with under 20 minutes to play. A Tristen Rose score in short time put the icing on the cake for Howland, knocking off Tippecanoe (23-1-0) to claim the D2 crown.
The Tigers set school records for most goals in a season with 136, and goals allowed at just six.
Over the last two seasons, Howland boasts a combined 43-1-2 record with a pair of state finals appearances.
