Howland High School has long recognized its students and teachers for their achievements, character and service to others.  Now, the school is expanding those efforts to showcase positive community partnerships. “We feel this is not only a great opportunity to recognize local businesses, but also provide a platform to establish positive dialogue and educate our business community about our students and school environment,” said Howland High School principal Joseph Simko.

Over the last several years, Howland High School has worked to establish a positive culture and environment that focuses on the district’s theme of “All One”, in which students, staff, families, and community members support each other in their strive for excellence.

“While all great schools recognize their students’ hard work and accomplishments in the classroom, elite schools across our country create partnerships with local businesses to recognize and promote such successes,” said Simko.

Business owners who wish to partner with the high school on this endeavor will be invited to meet with the school’s Students and Teachers of the Month to provide motivational messages about the importance of investing in the community. In an effort to provide the students with the best experiences while in high school, and the best opportunities after high school, the high school also encourages business leaders to meet with the building’s administration and Student Services Specialist to learn about the school’s College and Career Readiness programs and potentially share their business expertise and advice to help ensure the future success of the students.

Through this partnership, local businesses are encouraged to help recognize the high school’s Students and Teachers of the Month by making a nominal donation that could be used to acknowledge the award recipients. For that generosity, the high school will reciprocate by recognizing the businesses as partners through the district’s social media and website and on the high school’s Wall of Community Partners.
