School Nurse information for Parents
Please be sure to notify the school nurse if any information changes for your child during the school year. This includes contact information, medical condition changes, changes/additions/deletions in medication, etc. Up to date information is critical for us to have in case of emergency.
In accordance with state mandates, we will conduct various screenings on students during the year. We will be conducting height and weight, head lice, vision and hearing screenings throughout the year. Vision screening, involving grades K, l, 3, 5, 7, and 9, requires each child to read a picture or letter chart. Hearing screening, done in grades K, l, 3, 5, and 9, involves placing headphones over the child’s ears and presenting very quiet tones of various levels to determine any hearing difficulties. In the second half of the year, we will be conducting scoliosis screenings. Scoliosis, a spinal abnormality, is checked in grades 5 through 9 usually in their physical education classes.
If there is any reason why you do not want your child to be screened, please contact us at the building your child attends. Your cooperation in this matter will be greatly appreciated as you take an active part in helping us to provide the safest and most complete care for your growing and changing child. Please contact us, if you have any questions.
