cultural awareness week

Howland High School is celebrating cultural diversity through a unique, two-week food tasting event.

For the third year in a row, Student Senate has organized Cultural Awareness Week with the help of food service supervisor Justin Pancake.  Beginning Monday, March 27 through Thursday, April 6, Student Senate will highlight various cultures during the morning announcements while Pancake and the high school’s cafeteria staff prepare daily meals in an effort to help students further understand those particular cultures.

Pancake’s two-week menu showcases Italian, Mexican, Greek, Mediterranean, Canadian, South Asian, Irish, Korean, Cuban and South African dishes.

“One of the best ways to learn about cultural diversity is through tasting and cooking foods from around the world,” said food service supervisor Justin Pancake.
