The Howland Local School District is proud to announce that it has been honored with the prestigious Momentum Award by the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce. This award recognizes districts that have demonstrated significant improvements from one school year to the next. To qualify for this particular honor, districts must improve their performance index by 3 or more points from one school year to the next and receive a value-added rating of 4 or more stars.
Contributing to Howland’s success was the district’s significant improvement within the student growth performance indicator. The district experienced the largest student growth in Trumbull County from the 2021-2022 school year to the 2022-2023. The district's growth rating places the district at an impressive 83rd position statewide.
"This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, educators, staff and the entire school community. It reflects our unwavering commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement,” said Howland Local School District Superintendent Kevin Spicher. "We are thrilled and humbled to receive the Momentum Award from the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce.”
