Howland High School students from Mr. Borawiec’s CBI Class and Mrs. Lipkovich’s class joined forces with Petty Officer Christian Cogar of the U.S. Navy to make the holidays brighter for children in need. Their mission: to select meaningful gifts for children in need through the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program.

For over 15 years, Mr. Borawiec's students have participated in this annual tradition. Students in the CBI work program went above and beyond this year, donating full day’s wages – and in some cases more – to purchase gifts for local children.

“To witness students in my CBI work program donate to help others is amazing. While everyone wants to buy for young kids, my students were excited to buy for their peers.  It has gotten better every year we’ve done this,” said Sean Borawiec. “Including Mrs. Lipkovich's class this year was the icing on the cake.  They were so thoughtful and excited to give back.”

Petty Officer Cogar also played an important role. With young daughters of his own, his expertise was invaluable in selecting gifts.
