Howland High School is proud to announce that seniors Robin Hakimian and Theresa Cranston have been named finalists in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program. This recognition places them among the nation’s most academically talented students.
Last fall, Hakimian and Cranston were announced as semifinalists, joining approximately 16,000 high school seniors nationwide who earned this distinction. Each year, about 50,000 students are recognized in the National Merit Scholarship Program, but only 16,000 advance to the semifinalist stage. Semifinalists qualify based on their outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Now, as finalists, Hakimian and Cranston have reached an elite group of students competing for prestigious scholarships. In March, approximately 6,870 finalists will be selected as National Merit Scholarship winners.
