Howland High School will recognize two seniors who have committed to military service during Military Signing Day on March 10, 2026, at 12 p.m. The event celebrates students who have chosen to serve their country following graduation.
The ceremony will take place in the Community Room at the high school. Families and guests should enter through the Main Office, where staff will check parents in and escort them to the Community Room.
Calvin Croff has enlisted in the United States Army with the assistance of recruiter Sergeant First Class Boyle. Croff will attend Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson before beginning service as a 13U Field Artillery Recruit, preparing to support the Army’s field artillery operations.
Croff said his decision to enlist was motivated by a desire to grow personally and build a strong future.
“I want to better myself as a person. I believe that the military will help me do that and even help me get an education,” said Croff.
Also being recognized is Blake Flowers, who has enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve with guidance from recruiter Sergeant Martinez. His basic training location and future duty station have not yet been determined, but he looks forward to exploring specialty areas within the Air Force Reserves that match his skills and interests.
Flowers said his decision to serve was strongly influenced by family members who previously served. His father and uncle were both members of the Air Force Reserves.
“I felt called to serve because of the opportunities the military provides and the strong connection to my family’s service,” Flowers said. “Thank you to my parents for supporting me throughout this journey of finding my future and teaching me all of the opportunities I could go achieve.”
The Howland Local School District invites members of the media and community to attend the Military Signing Day ceremony recognizing Croff and Flowers for their commitment to military service.
The district also thanks Sweet Melissa's Good Eats for generously donating meals for the students and their families in support of this special event.
