Hello Howland School Families!
Our district is moving to centralized bus stops this fall. We want to be transparent about the reasons for this decision and address common questions we’ve already received.
Why are we moving to centralized bus stops?
The primary reason is a shortage of bus drivers. Like many districts across Ohio, we are facing ongoing staffing challenges. Centralized stops allow us to safely transport all students to and from school while making the most of our available drivers.
Additionally, upcoming road projects will make daily bus routes even more difficult:
State Route 46 Diverging Diamond Project: Although ahead of schedule, the project will require a full closure of Route 46 in both directions for two weeks in October.
Howland-Wilson Road construction: This project will also create significant traffic delays and detours.
Both projects will cause logistical challenges for school transportation. Centralized stops will help us adjust routes more efficiently and keep delays to a minimum.
