In partnership with PAWS, the Howland Local School District is excited to launch a fundraising effort to build a new fine and performing arts auditorium adjacent to the existing high school gymnasium.

History of Howland Auditorium
In 1926, Howland Schools constructed an auditorium at its Central Building. It fostered decades of educational and entertainment opportunities for students and promoted the fine and performing arts throughout the Howland community. The auditorium was instrumental as a versatile classroom and performance space during the school day. It was also an important gathering spot in the evening for school and community performances and functions.  After serving the district and community for decades, the aging auditorium was torn down in the early 1990s. 

Vision for New Fine and Performing Arts Center
Howland Local Schools believes now is the time to restore the heart and soul of the schools and community by constructing a bigger and better venue, where the fine and performing arts merge to serve the school district and the Howland community for decades to come.

Details of Proposed Fine and Performing Arts Center
Main Stage
The proposed fine and performing arts center is approximately 35,000 square feet and will seat 800 people. The fully-ADA-accessible facility will also have six wheelchair posts. The facility will boast an expansive main stage with a full-height fly area and catwalk for lighting and props. State-of-the-art theater acoustics and sound equipment will allow patrons to enjoy performances. An exterior loading dock, private dressing rooms and bathrooms will sit adjacent to the main stage.

Gallery
Outside of the main auditorium, patrons will be greeted by an art gallery that will be used to showcase students' work. The gallery space will also allow for the rotation of temporary art and community exhibits.

Outdoor Stage
Upon exiting the back of the fine and performing arts center, patrons will find an outdoor, covered performance stage where students can creatively display extemporaneous talents or planned performances.
