On behalf of the School Board, District Leadership, Teachers, and Support Staff we welcome over 2,700 students and their parents/guardians to the Howland Local School District. Whether you are a returning student and family or entering our schools for the first time, we extend a heartfelt thank you for the trust that you have placed in our schools and dedicated professionals.

For generations, Howland Schools have been the educational home to students across our community, as well as a critical part of what makes our town such a great place to live. As a former student, graduate, teacher, principal, and in my 4th year as superintendent, I am thrilled to be part of a District where academia is paramount and traditions in athletics, activities and the arts are incredibly valued in each child’s life to ensure success for every child... every day!

We have made many positive changes to improve practices for educating kids and being the most efficient stewards of taxpayer support. We look forward to sharing with you these earnest improvements in the upcoming months as we continue to work toward and earn your trust in our genuine work to make our schools viable and sustainable now and for the years to come!

Our continuous improvement efforts outlined in the District Strategic Plan are updated annually utilizing feedback, input, and data to ensure we continue to build relationships with community entities as we work to increase successes and the number of our students returning “home” to make a living and make a life in this great community.

Safety and security are always our top priority and we are completing a number of projects across the District to ensure our schools are updated to that of as important standards of newer schools. Our students and staff are returning to filtered drinking water in all buildings to ensure water consumed is purified and safe! We have teamed up with local engineers, water municipalities, and local water filtration entities to assist in this important project.

At the beginning of every school year, we know that we will face unanticipated challenges and opportunities as the year progresses. Please know that we always work to address critical issues transparently and involve the voice of our students, parents, staff, and community via our Board Meetings, Superintendent Advisory Council, and established communication venues. We welcome your input and feedback as we make it another great year - All One for Every Child –Every Day with a Proud Past and a Roaring Future! Please refer to the district webpage for what is new this year and important dates. We look forward to a great year!

Educationally,
