The Howland Esports program continues to grow both in size and success, thanks to new additions, dedicated student-athletes, and creative efforts to keep the momentum going.

Program Upgrades & Additions

  • New mechanical keyboards were purchased to improve gameplay responsiveness and ease of maintenance.

  • Two used graphics cards were added to help bring older skeleton units back online and provide spare hardware as needed.

  • Letterman-style pins for Varsity, Captain, and All-Star recognition were introduced to reward student achievement.

  • A new Fortnite trio was added, bringing the total number of active players for the game to six.

  • A Reserve (JV) Rocket League team was formed, allowing underclassmen an earlier start in the program.

Game Highlights

Fortnite

  • Premier A (Gracen Lucas, Luke Alden, Alex Conlon)

    • 4th out of 33 teams in Premier 5 (Regular Season)

    • 16th out of 203 teams in ESO/OHSAA

    • Qualified for States and Regionals: 4th in NE Region, 22nd in State

    • Team includes 2 juniors and 1 sophomore

  • Premier B (Bang “Nick” Lau, Andrew Krarup, Sophia Cumberledge)

    • 14th out of 33 teams in Premier 5

    • 94th out of 203 teams in ESO/OHSAA

    • Team includes 1 junior and 2 sophomores

Rocket League

  • Premier Team (Ian York, Carson Wolanzyk, Landon Luman)

    • Finished season 4-3, 5th at Regionals

    • Ian and Landon earned 1st Team All-Ohio honors

    • All three players represented NE Region in the All-Star Game (3rd place finish)

    • All seniors

  • Reserve Team (Will Reynolds, Mason Mathews, Shane Sybelnik)

    • Finished season 6-1

    • Placed 4th out of 16 at State/Regionals

    • Will Reynolds earned All-State MVP—the only award given at this level

    • All freshmen

Valorant

  • Premier Team (Carson Wolanzyk, Bang “Nick” Lau, Freddie Rivera, Landon Luman, Nathanial Irizarry, Mason Mathews)

    • Finished 3-4 on the season

    • Team includes 2 seniors, 2 juniors, 1 sophomore, and 1 freshman
