Howland High School recognized two seniors who committed to military service during Military Signing Day on March 10, 2026.

The ceremony was held in the Community Room at the high school and honored students who have chosen to serve in the armed forces after graduation.

Calvin Croff enlisted in the United States Army with the assistance of recruiter Sergeant First Class Boyle. Croff will attend Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson before beginning service as a 13U Field Artillery recruit.

Croff said he chose to enlist to challenge himself and build a strong future.

“I want to better myself as a person. I believe the military will help me do that and help me get an education,” Croff said.

Blake Flowers was also recognized after enlisting in the United States Air Force Reserve with guidance from recruiter Sergeant Martinez. His basic training location and future duty station have not yet been determined.

Flowers said his decision to serve was influenced by family members who previously served in the Air Force Reserve, including his father and uncle.

“I felt called to serve because of the opportunities the military provides and the strong connection to my family’s service,” Flowers said. “Thank you to my parents for supporting me throughout this journey of finding my future and teaching me about the opportunities available to me.”

The district also thanked Sweet Melissa's Good Eats for donating meals for the students and their families during the event.
