Howland High School FCCLA celebrated National Be a Teacher Day on Thursday, Oct. 8, with activities to recognize teachers and encourage students to explore careers in education.
The national initiative, led by Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), aims to inspire high school students to consider teaching and help address the national teacher shortage.
FCCLA organized several activities throughout the day, including:
Coffee for staff: Sips and Spurs coffee truck provided complimentary beverages for staff, courtesy of FCCLA.
Dress Like Your Favorite Teacher Day: Students dressed up as teachers who have made an impact on them.
Gratitude Wall: FCCLA members created a mobile graffiti gratitude wall where students could leave thank-you messages for teachers.
Future educator recognition: The FCCLA Leadership Team celebrated students from the Class of 2027 who are interested in becoming educators.
First-grade reading program: FCCLA members held their first visit of the school year for the first-grade reading program.
The activities gave students an opportunity to recognize the educators who support them while learning more about the teaching profession.
