Howland Springs preschool families took learning outdoors during a Reading in the Woods Storybook Trail adventure inspired by The Acorn and the Oak.
As they explored the story of a tiny acorn growing into a mighty oak tree, children practiced communication skills through hands-on activities involving art, movement and nature.
Students drew acorns, collected letter-themed acorns from a chalk oak tree and described the letters and objects inside them. They also decorated the tree with acorns, explored the parts of a tree, sorted objects by size and practiced growing from an acorn into a tree through movement.
The activities combined early literacy, communication and outdoor exploration in an engaging learning experience for preschool families.
