💗 Pep Club Gives Back 💗
Our Pep Club proudly presented a check to Pink Lights the Way, a nonprofit founded by Howland’s own Megan Schellhorn and Shannon Styer after their personal journeys as breast cancer survivors. The organization provides emotional and practical support to patients through care packages, mentorship and encouragement.
This cause is especially meaningful to our school community. School Resource Officer Stephanie Slusher received support from Pink Lights the Way during her own breast cancer treatment and now gives back by helping raise awareness and support for others.
During football season, our Pep Club and student section sold pink shirts to support this mission. Thanks to their efforts and the generosity of our fans, $1,670 was raised to support Pink Lights the Way!

Take a look at what happened during last week's Wellness Wednesday at Howland High School!
Our students were passing a ball with their feet while jamming to 80’s music! Movement, music and plenty of laughs made for a great midweek break. 🎶⚽️

Howland High School’s Science Club had a special visit from BobKat’s Lil’ Critters! Bob and Kathy, who volunteer alongside teacher Jason Lee at Mosquito Lake State Park, brought a barn owl, a barred owl and a red-tailed hawk to share with students. The presentation gave students a hands-on learning experience focused on Ohio wildlife and raptor conservation!

As part of Personal Wellness Fabulous Friday, students enjoyed a hands-on creative activity by making homemade cinnamon applesauce ornaments. A fun way to connect and celebrate the season!

Students in Mary Lynn Dieter’s College Credit Plus Spanish and Intro to Spanish 1 classes, along with Matt Saborse’s CCP Italian students, took field trips to Añejo Mexican Restaurant & Cantina and Salvatore’s Italian Grill to celebrate the end of a successful semester with culturally themed lunches. It was an excellent real-world application of language learning!

Students in Lisa Allison’s Honors Anatomy & Physiology class took a hands-on approach to learning as they worked with the human body skeleton during lab.
Recently, our Howland High School Big Tigers spread kindness and encouragement by writing affirmation postcards to our Little Tigers at H.C. Mines Elementary. Our 9th grade students wrote PAWSITIVE affirmation postcards for 3rd graders, while our 10th grade students shared encouraging notes with 4th graders!
