Mrs. Samora and Mrs. Santee kept the smiles coming for our bus riders the week before break by dressing up each morning to spread some extra holiday joy! Costumes included everything from pickles and traffic cones to Elf on the Shelf, Buddy the Elf and Jovie. Thank you for going above and beyond to make mornings fun and memorable for our students! 😊🎅🎄

Our 6th grade students enjoyed a special field trip to the DeYor Performing Arts Center in Youngstown to watch Miracle on Easy Street. After the show, students wrapped up the day with lunch at the Eastwood Mall food court. This memorable experience was made possible through funds raised by our annual Read-a-Thon, and we’re excited to do it all again this February! 🐯

Math is served! Students in Mr. Rager’s 6th grade math class are putting decimals into action by creating restaurant menus and “ordering” from them. Through this hands-on activity, students practiced adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals, all while learning how math connects to everyday life. 😄📘
Learning went beyond the classroom walls in Mr. Rager’s Math 6 class! Students ran, measured and calculated their speed. Then, they converted it from feet per second to miles per hour!
Snow problem too big? Not for our engineers! Students in Mrs. Heinselman’s 5th Grade Science classes put their engineering skills to the test by building igloos for a snowman using marshmallows and toothpicks. Teamwork, creativity and problem-solving were on full display! 👏⛄

What a reward! Our ROAR Board winners and top fundraiser sellers enjoyed an unforgettable trip to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton for the December GetFit Camp! From fitness activities to football fun, it was a day full of energy, teamwork and well-earned celebration. 🦁🏈🎉

Howland Intermediate School’s 6th grade ELA students explored the origins of the White Elephant tradition, which dates back to India. White elephants were once considered sacred and rare. So, receiving one from a king seemed like an honor… until the high cost of caring for it turned the “gift” into a burden! That’s how the meaning we know today was born.
After learning the history, students put their knowledge into action with a White Elephant gift exchange, and it did not disappoint.
Learning + laughter = a great day in ELA! 😂🎁

In Kelly Weeks’ ELA class, students took part in the Affirmation Station, writing positive messages to one another based on their Capturing Kids’ Hearts Social Contract and ROAR (Responsibility, Ownership, Acceptance and Respect). A great example of kindness and character in action!
