Starting today, Wednesday, November 6th, through Veterans Day on Monday, November 11th, the Howland Junior High School Student Senate is selling flags and dog tags for $5 each to honor our veterans. Students and staff can purchase during lunch or by visiting Mrs. Fryda or Mr. Kamovitch. All flags and dog tags with veterans' names will be displayed on our red, white and blue trees near the front office and in the second-floor front window facing the flagpole. This is a special way to recognize family members or loved ones at Howland Junior High who served in the military! All proceeds will go to Veterans’ Outreach in Liberty! Let's come together to show our gratitude for their sacrifices and contributions to our nation’s security! 🕊️ #VeteransDay #HowlandJuniorHigh

Today, Nicole Kapalko from WFMJ visited Mrs. Sovich's College & Career Readiness classes. She spent the day talking to our 8th grade students about the educational background and experiences that prepared her for a career in Broadcast Journalism. She also spoke about what it's like to be a live TV reporter, as well as all of the diverse opportunities a career in Broadcast Journalism can provide. Students were also treated to some "behind the scenes" stories which are always fun things to hear and learn about. Thank you to Nicole Kapalko for sharing and bringing real world experiences into our classroom today!

Last week, our students held a "Pink Out" to raise money for the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center. Students who were pink were asked to donate at least $1 on Thursday. We raised $300.16. Thank you to Laurie from Joanie Abdu for coming out to HJHS to pick up or donations. This money will be used to assist those that can not afford mammograms used to prevent and detect Breast Cancer. We are proud of our student body and appreciate parent support in donating to this cause. Go Tigers!

We're excited to share our new electronic annual report calendar with you! Starting this school year, the calendar will no longer be shared in hardcopy form. Instead, we will be sending out a minimum of three printed newsletters per school year to keep you updated on the latest events and happenings in our schools. Click here to view the 24-25 calendar: https://5il.co/2t22i You can download the calendar and print it from home at your convenience. The best part of moving to an electronic format is that we can update the calendar throughout the year, ensuring it remains accurate and up-to-date for your quick access from the app or website. We look forward to the start of a new school year!
