6th grade students selected a novel or informational text from the HMS Library. They read, chose a project, and delivered a presentation covering their literary and factual discoveries!



Students at the Intermediate School that earned a 4.0 for the first three quarters or had perfect attendance celebrated their accomplishments yesterday with a cool & refreshing Kona Ice.






This past Saturday our HJHS Ladies Track Team won the Trumbull County Championship! Congrats to our student athletes and our coaching staff! Go Tigers!

The Howland Local School District's Roaring Future Festival will take place this Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Howland High School. This festival will be a fantastic opportunity for families to come together and celebrate the proud past and exciting future of the Howland Local School District. The Roaring Future Festival will be an evening full of fun, games, and exciting activities for everyone to enjoy. Attendees can look forward to bounce houses, inflatable slides, student performances, games, prizes, food trucks, and the "Sweets and Eats" cake walk! We look forward to seeing you there!

We want to thank John Apostolakis and Apostolakis Honda for their second, generous donation to our food service department this school year, which paid off all of the outstanding lunch debt at H.C. Mines Elementary School!

This past week our 7th and 8th grade band students had the opportunity to receive specialized instruction from professionals in the field of music.
Our 8th grade clarinet players had the opportunity to work with aspiring professional clarinet teachers from the 'YSU Clarinet Society' to perfect their clarinet skills.
In addition, our guitar and bass guitar players from our HJHS Caribbean Steel Pan Ensemble "Steel Tigers" had the incredible opportunity to work with John Anthony, who is the guitarist with the famous group The Vindys.
Our HJHS students learned amazing real-life professional music skills and had an amazing experience working with professionals in the field! The musical excellence continues in the Howland Music Department!




HIServes and HIS Science Club participated in a litter pick up for Earth Day this past Friday.




The Howland Choir Department presents Howland's Got Talent on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school gym. Tickets will be sold at the door. Prices are $7 for adults $5 for students. Each ticket purchased will receive one free ticket to be used for voting for the Best Act of the Night award.
Along with performances from the Treble Choir, Chamber Choir and our Pop A Cappella Group "Another Way", 15 auditioned acts will take the stage. The acts include singers, dancers, garage bands, lip sync and even a contortionist.

Students in 5th Grade Technology classes learning Google Sheets - today they played Battleship learning about columns, rows, cells, and color fills!



Our 6th grade students were able to tour the Howland Library, sign up for a library card, and learn about the amazing services offered to students their age at our local library!

Congratulations to Mason Sylvester for placing 3rd in the Congressional Debate category at the Speech & Debate State Tournament this weekend in Cleveland! HJHS was well represented at the State tournament. We are proud of the efforts and successes of our students and advisors! Go Tigers!
