Congratulations to Alexis Hartzell for winning a new set of Apple Airpods. Alexis was able to earn 5 Tiger Tickets for exemplifying our PBIS Model, R.O.A.R (Responsibility, Ownership, Acceptance, & Respect) consistently through the 1st semester. Students who earned at least 5 Tiger Tickets from teachers were entered into the Grand Prize Drawing for Apple Airpods.

Members of the Howland Police Department took 10 of our students on a shopping trip during their annual Shop with a Cop event! Students stopped by Target and were treated to dinner at Salvatore's Pizza in the Eastwood Mall. We appreciate our school resource officers and school staff who helped make this a successful event!

Yesterday, U.S. News & World Report published the Best Middle Schools Report for 2024. The Howland Middle School Campus (Grades 5-8) placed among the top 40% of Middle Schools in the State, making it a U.S. News Best Middle School! In Honor of our Veterans, Howland Junior High School purchased 300 U.S. Flags from a local flag company to display in a show of support for those who have served in our nation's armed forces. Staff and Students were able to purchase flags to pay tribute to family and friends who have served. All proceeds will go to a local Veteran's Outreach in Trumbull County. Thank you to our Student Senate for the leadership they exemplified and to our Student Senate Advisors Mrs. Kamovitch and Mrs. Fryda.

Tonight - Our HJHS Challenge 24 Team led by Advisor Alesha Perry competed against schools across Trumbull County at the Trumbull County ESC. We placed 1st, 2nd, and 4th! Taking 1st place, Aviana Li, Mason Meyers placed 2nd, and 4th place went to Andrew Nemtz. Congratulations to our students! Another great academic win for HJHS. Also, special thanks to former Howland Middle School teacher, Mrs. Jaclyn Wise for assisting in tonight's event. Go Tigers!

ATTENTION HJHS STUDENTS: From now until November 10, buy an American Flag at lunch to honor our veterans. Flags will feature the name of a local veteran and will be displayed on the HJHS front lawn to show our support for our service men and women. Student Senate asks for a donation of $5 per flag and all proceeds will benefit a local veterans outreach organization!

Congratulations to our HJHS Cross Country Teams on a tremendous season.! This weekend at State, our Lady Tigers finished 4th overall and our young men finished 3rd overall. Combined - 9 students placed overall. Placing in the top 10 in the State for Emily Mohney finished 9th overall, Donovan Wetstone placed 7th, and Niko Raptis finished 1st in the State! Thank you for Coach Lee and Coach Pollifrone for all that they did this season for our student athletes to help instill hard work and dedication. Every day was a great day to run! Go Tigers!

This morning HJHS Students started the day with a presentation from Cory Greenwood, "Your Story Matters". It was energetic and impactful. Students had a great time listening to some live music but also left with some tools to help navigate through challenging times and moments. Students were all reminded that their lives matter and have significant value. We appreciate and value Cory Greenwood and his team for working with our students this morning!

Today, Meijer of Warren and the American Heart Association donated a safety training kit complete with 10 CPR "Little Annies", a practice AED, and first aid materials totaling over $3200. Thank you to Meijer and the American Heart Association for your generosity to our school and to our students. All of our students at Howland Junior High are trained in CPR in Health & Wellness classes. This donation will allow us to provide additional and ongoing training to students and staff.
