Hello Glen Families,
We have had some calls about when students will start virtual lessons on Wednesdays. We will begin this practice next week as well as accessing other online resources during their at-home days. We will start to distribute Chromebooks on Monday and Tuesday to the families that have requested one. Please remember, we have limited quantities of Chromebooks to distribute to students who do not have access to a device at home. So, we want to be sure that those students who TRULY need a device are able to secure one through the school. Again, if you have a computer or tablet at home, we ask that you please use that device for school work and do NOT request a Chromebook from the district. If you DO NOT have access to any device at home, please contact the school, and we will do our best to provide you one.
Additionally, your child's Google account information was sent to you via email, and a paper copy is coming home as well. This account information is required for your child to access their teacher's Google Classroom. Your child will log in to their Google Classroom on their at-home days and Wednesdays. There will be live instructional times on Wednesdays for available students, as well as recordings that can be watched at any time for students that miss a live lesson. Your child's teacher will be contacting you with those live lessons time(s), so you can plan accordingly. As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we implement many new strategies.
Kind Regards,
Travis Roth
Principal, Howland Glen Primary School

Good evening Glen Parents, our first day went very well!
In order to make the morning and afternoon run more smoothly, please practice the name of your child’s teacher with them so we can help them get to their classroom quickly. Secondly, it is IMPERATIVE that you send a note with your child if they are a PM car rider. Without a note, the pickup process is slowed down greatly. Also, without a note, we assume they are to ride the bus home. You may call the Glen office if you forget to send a note or your situation has changed, but we prefer a note as much as possible so the teacher is aware of the child’s situation as well. If you did not pick up your student car rider tag last week, they were sent home with your child today in a brown manila envelope. Please attach the bookbag tag to their bookbag even if they are only an occasional pickup. You or the authorized person picking up your child must have the car tag or you will have to park your car and present your driver’s license in the office after the buses have departed.
Thank you and have a great night!

Glen Primary School's class lists will be posted on the school doors at 4 p.m. this evening. Our teachers also sent emails today introducing themselves to their students. If you received an email, you do not need to come to the school!

If you are a K-4 parent/guardian and you plan to PICK UP your child this school year, our procedures have changed. You will be REQUIRED to have a pickup pass. You can pick up your pass at H.C. Mines on Sept. 1 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. or Sept. 2 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Learn more here: https://www.howlandschools.com/article/297594?org=hsps

Our bus routes have been posted to our website.

We are aware of Governor Dewine's announcement placing Trumbull County under a red designation. This designation DOES NOT change Howland Local School District's return plan under the hybrid model. We will continue to provide updates as we receive them, but as of now, this red designation DOES NOT impact our district's reopening plans.
Thank you,
Kevin Spicher

Howland Local Schools has extended its online remote learning deadline to Monday, August 17, 2020. Families will have until the 17th to make their final decision.

We have had several families ask us the same question regarding enrollment into the hybrid learning model. So, we would like to clarify!
If you choose to send your child back to school under the HYBRID learning model, you DO NOT need to fill out a form indicating that choice.
ALL students are assumed to be attending under the hybrid learning model UNLESS they complete the full-time online remote learning survey. The deadline to complete the survey, indicating you are interested in the full-time online remote learning option, is Friday, August 7, 2020.
Once the survey closes, the district will send an important, detailed email to all of families who completed the survey. Families will then have until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2020, to make their final decision regarding full-time online remote learning.
