Across Howland Intermediate, students who demonstrate ROAR — Responsibility, Ownership, Acceptance, and Respect — earn a turn to sit in the ROAR Throne, celebrating leadership, positive choices, and hard work.

Each classroom makes it their own:
-In Mrs. Weeks’ classroom, students use the throne while serving as the Teacher Assistant, sharing leadership duties with the teacher.
-In Mrs. Santee’s art room, it transforms into the Doodle Boss Dock, recognizing creativity, effort, and positive behavior.
-In Mrs. Scharba’s classroom, students earned the Tiger Throne for having the most badges on Epic for independent reading!

We love seeing our Tigers ROAR with pride in their own unique ways! 🧡🖤

Marvelous Math Day @ Howland Intermediate was a SUCCESS! Some of our 5th graders took on a Halloween Pumpkin Patch Escape Room, solving decimal addition and subtraction problems, as well as place value challenges, to “escape” from the head pumpkin (their teachers!).

Other classes participated in a digital pumpkin escape, working together to discover the locations of missing pumpkins. All students enjoyed glow stick bracelets, popcorn, and special prizes for the first-place teams! It was a day full of math, teamwork, and festive fun!

Students in 6th grade solved equations, and if their solution was correct, then they could see if their solution was a hit during a game of Battleship. They also played a new game created by the hit 6'7!

💰 Fiscal Friday💰

Rising property taxes aren’t just a local issue. They’re the result of state funding changes that shifted the burden onto communities like ours. Our new graphic breaks down school and community funding, what it means for our services, and how we can move forward together.

ELA 6 students had their Starbooks Book Tasting event last week! Students rotated through six exciting rounds, sampling a different book at each stop to discover books they might enjoy. Along the way, they placed their "drink orders" and enjoyed some treats while diving into new reads. HIS is brewing up a love of reading and working to create lifelong readers , one sip (and one chapter) at a time!
